My Story

The Herding Cats Journey So Far

For over 30 years I’ve worked as a local certified public accountant with mid-sized businesses and professional practices – therapists, physicians, attorneys and owner-led companies whose finances have outgrown simple tax prep. I’ve seen the dreams you’re working toward and the obstacles in the way. My mission at Herding Cats Accounting is to clear the financial chaos of running a company so you can focus on the work that drives you.

You’re building your business right here in our community. You know your customers, your competitors, and what it takes to succeed in this market. So shouldn’t your accountant be more than a faceless voice on the phone? What if you could work with someone who gets it right the first time AND is just plain fun to work with?

I recently worked with a client in Greeley who was frustrated with an overseas firm. Every meeting was missed communication and vague answers, and they weren’t entirely sure where their money was going. I straightened out their accounts, brought them into compliance with U.S. and Colorado guidelines, and found deductions and credits they should have been claiming all along. Now they say it feels like I’m part of their team, not a line item on the monthly bill.

That’s why I founded Herding Cats Accounting. I’m a licensed certified public accountant and business financial advisor serving Fort Collins, Loveland and the wider Northern Colorado area, specializing in mid-sized businesses across Larimer, Weld and Boulder Counties. I’m not just your accountant – I’m your fractional controller and full-time partner.

Trusted Excellence

What Sets Me Apart from Competitors

Advisory First: A Year-Round Financial PartnershipThe most important thing a growing business owner can understand is that recording the past will not shape the future. As your business financial advisor I turn financial data into decisions – proactive tax planning, entity structure and business setup, growth strategy, and regular reviews that tell you what is actually happening. My commitment does not end in April. If your current accountant only talks to you at tax time, you’re not getting a CPA – you’re getting a time machine.

Taming the Tax Man: Strategies for Your Bottom LineWhen you search for the best Northern Colorado accounting firms, you’re really looking for someone who helps you keep more of what you earn. As a local certified public accountant I work with you all year, inside changing U.S. and Colorado tax law, to find the credits and incentives available to mid-sized businesses. When something has already gone wrong – IRS notices, back taxes, payment plans – I handle the resolution too. The goal is simple: keep every dollar you legally can, not giving it away to Uncle Sam.

Financial Advice for the Decisions That MatterAs your business financial advisor I provide ongoing guidance for the choices that actually move the needle. I also handle payroll – wages, withholdings and timely filings, done right every time – so it stops eating your week. This level of professional guidance makes a real difference when you are making critical decisions about expansion, borrowing capital, new hires, or major investments.
